Thank You Downbeat

For the last six months or so, I've been consumed with politics. You will be happy to know that is over for now. Back to writing about the thing I love most, besides my wife, kids, gran-kids, family and friends- Music!

I've been fortunate in my life to work with some of the best musicians on the planet.
Starting way back in the late 60's up till now. The great thing about music is you're always meeting new musicians. This summer I had the pleasure of playing in the Avant- Gardens Festival. I met and played with Charles Gayle and Saco Yasuma and fronting Cecil Taylor's last rhythm section, Jackson Krall and Albey Balgochian. What a great day that was. My new string quartet with Jason Kao Hwang, Tomas Urlich and Ken Filliano is a wonder to work with. These guys are amazing. Last, but not least, my working trio with Jackson Krall and Ken Filiano, I couldn't ask for a better group
And today I got the news that Downbeat chose The Jon Hemmersam/
Dom Minasi Quartet one the best of 2008.

It couldn't get better!
