A Message to my Republican Counterparts
I thought that now that Obama has settled into the presidency all the crap would stop. But it hasn’t!
This is the second time in my life that I have been embarrassed to be an American. The first time was the way the Bush Administration treated or shall I say ignored the people of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Now, it’s what some Republicans are saying and doing. Their connected groups such as Fox News, the Tea parties and of course let us not forget Russ Limbaugh are the embodiment of bad behavior.
I know we live in America and you can say anything you want, but your words have resulted in violence, racial slurs and homophobic behavior. The other day, while watching the Democrats enter the Capital Building under siege by behavior that was not only disgusting but also embarrassed the Republican Party, and every American, no matter what race, color, religion or sexual preference.
You may say not all Republicans are that way and you would be probably right, but why hasn’t every Republican come out against this? The threats, window breaking and letters with white powder in them will eventually be the downfall of the American Democratic System and your Party.
By doing nothing, the Republican Party has basically endorsed this behavior and is spitting in the face of every decent person in the United States. Whether you want the new Health Care reform or not, I urge you to write, call or go to the demonstrations and stop this outrageous behavior.
Remember, the one thing all members of Congress are afraid of is the vote. Take away your vote and you are out!

Amen, Dom. Glad you said this! We need more people who speak the truth, and fewer silent followers.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Lately it feels like we're very close to the edge of sparking something we're all going to regret.
ReplyDeleteToday after listening to the news I was thinking, "This is like a 'Who is the ugliest baby' pissing contest! It makes me angry until I recall that simple anger only feeds the beast.
Conversation begins only when one speaks up and says something constructive.
Again, thanks.
Best regards,
